Former President Of Moton’s Records, Jheryl Busby Dies

Jherly Busby, 49, the former president of Moton’s Records found died in early Tuesday, November 3, 2008 in a hot tub at his home in Malibu, California. The cause of death was not clear, whether it was an accident or died due to natural causes. He also worked as a chief executive of Motown Records, which helped the careers of Boyz II Men and Johnny Gill.

Busby was Motwon’s president and chief executive officer in 1988 and stayed for seven long years. He over saw many up coming artists such as Boyz ll Men and queen Latifah. Many famous personalities visited his house after his death.

Singer Smokey Robinson said he was in tears by the death of Busby and has tremendous respect for him and continues his respect for him throughout his life. Busby bounced around several record companies during 1980 when he was doing promotional work. Black music division of MCA Records named him as vice president of their division in 1984 and later promoted to President for the same division.
