Drug abuse has many bad impacts on health as well as on social life of a person. Many factors can add to a person’s risk for drug abuse. These factors increase a person’s chances for drug abuse. The factors are like early aggressive behavior, lack of parental supervision, substance abuse, drug availability, poverty. The more risks a child is exposed to, the more likely the child will abuse drugs. Some risk factors may be more powerful than others at certain stages in development, such as peer pressure during the teenage years. Drug testing in schools is not encouraged by many parents or children which are the only way to reduce risk factors.
It is found that Teens who use illicit drugs are twice as likely to engage in violent behavior as those who do not. Also the drug abuse increases violent behavior and thieve mentality among the children. Teens that use drugs have lower levels of commitment to their education, higher truancy rates, and declining grades. It is also found that children who use drugs have more disruptive classroom behavior and are more likely to do wild acts like fighting, stealing and property destruction. This affects the learning environment for students who choose not to use drugs.
